The Greasiest Spoon is a casual café nestled on North Street in Winchcombe, known primarily for its hearty breakfast offerings and straightforward lunch options. It’s the kind of local spot that fits effortlessly into the rhythm of mornings and early afternoons, especially for those looking to fuel up before a walk in the nearby Cotswold hills or a casual day out exploring the town.

The atmosphere inside leans towards unpretentious and welcoming, with a quiet charm that feels like a neighbourhood kitchen rather than a polished eatery. The café is popular with locals who appreciate a well-executed fry-up, including vegan alternatives that veer from typical frozen fare to more thoughtful, fresh preparations. The service echoes the friendly vibe—attentive without being overbearing—and the clean, tidy interior complements the straightforward menu.

Breakfast here sets itself apart with its reliability and quality. The sausages are notably sourced from local suppliers rather than the mass-produced varieties found elsewhere, giving the classic English breakfast a genuinely homemade touch. Simple tweaks, like swapping fried bread for toast, are easily accommodated. Poached eggs, when served, come prepared with precision, paired with fresh, nutty granary toast that balances out the richness of the meal.

Beyond breakfast hours, the menu offers a selection of sandwiches and comforting sides like cheesy chips or beans with sausage, appealing to anyone wanting a filling lunch without fuss. Drinks are basic but well chosen—filter coffee served in real mugs and a decent range of juices and soft drinks.

This café tends to be quieter mid-morning or early afternoon, making those times ideal for a slower, more relaxed visit. It’s a spot where locals might pop in routinely for their morning coffee and breakfast, or where visitors can get a solid meal before heading off on local walks, such as the route to Belas Nap.

Friendly café, courteous service and delicious food. Prices reasonable. Clean premises and a friendly greeting on arrival. My poached eggs arrived in good time, perfectly cooked, swirled in boiling water and vinegar, sharpness of the vinegar offsetting the richness of the eggs. Granary toast fresh and nutty. Coffee, served in a proper mug. I visited at a quiet time so not many people in but I passed by later and saw that it’s popular for lunch.

Delicious breakfast. If you don't want the fried bread, just ask them to switch it to toast. The vegetarian breakfast was one of the best I've had, with proper veggie sausages, not those vegetable filled things.

Hands down the greatest fry up in the UK !! We’ve been coming here every time we visit the area and it never disappoints. Not only is the breakfast absolutely delicious (the mushrooms are particularly noteworthy) but the warm welcome you receive makes you feel instantly at home. This is a truly special cafe !!

The Greasiest Spoon is terrific. We always pop in when we're in Winchcombe. The cooked breakfasts are superb and the service is great. Thoroughly recommend it. Vegan breakfasts are also excellent. I just wish it was in Bishops Cleeve where we live!

Only open for breakfasts until 14.00? Well cooked using locally sourced food, none of yer "euro sausage" here! Ideal for setting you up for a days walking such as to Belas Nap.

Loved this cafe! Great vibe, friendly staff and the food was anything but greasy!!! It’s hard to elevate a cooked breakfast but this one was stand apart, you could taste the quality of the ingredients and cooked to perfection.
